Aventura Archaeology Site

Aventura is an ancestral Maya city in Belize, Central America. For over five millennia, Aventura’s fertile soils and watery landscape attracted ancestral Maya to build homes, a community, and a city. During the Late Classic period (600-800 CE) Aventura was the paramount city in its region.
Across Aventura’s history, there were periods of climate change and drought, political turbulence, shifting trade routes, European invasion, and colonialism. Through all of this, Aventura’s residents were resilient.
